Economic revival (1763–1900)

The post-Conquest period was a time of upheaval and transition for Place-Royale. While its economic importance was already undeniable, the arrival of English-speaking investors had a significant impact on its overall dynamic. Place Royale and the surrounding area became filled with banks, private harbours and warehouses. Several buildings were converted into inns. The bourgeoisie, both French-speaking and above all English-speaking, flourished there for several decades until the end of the 19th century.
